About Connor

 

Connor Coughlin was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and is a professional actor, singer, and dancer.  Connor is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association and the American Guild of Variety Artists.  Connor trained in the prestigious Royal Winnipeg Ballet School’s Professional Division and received a diploma upon graduation.  At the ballet, Connor studied under Roman Rykine (Principal Dancer with English National Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and Boston Ballet), and Jorden Morris (Chief Ballet Master of Boston Ballet, choreographer of Peter Pan and Moulin Rouge the Ballet).  Post-graduation Connor attended Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre School whose alumni include Academy Award Winners Philip Seymour HoffmanLady Gaga, and Viola Davis.  Connor’s teachers included Tony Award Winner B.H. Barry (Royal Shakespeare Company), and Edward Berkeley (Director of Undergraduate Opera Studies at The Julliard School, guest professor at Princeton University).

Connor’s professional highlights include four seasons of the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes at the world-famous Radio City Music Hall (Produced by the Madison Square Garden Company).  Connor starred as Billy Lawlor in Big League Productions National tour of 42nd Street (Directed by 2001 Broadway Revival Director Mark Bramble and choreographed by 2001 Broadway Revival Choreographer Randy Skinner).  Connor played the leading role of Cosmo Brown (Made famous by Donald O’Connor) in Theatre by the Sea’s production of Singin’ in the Rain, directed and choreographed by Kelli Barclay (Broadway’s 42nd Street, and White Christmas).  Connor was also a featured dancer in NETworks Presentations National Tour of Elf, choreographed by Connor Gallagher (Broadway’s Beetlejuice).  Connor worked with choreographer Josh Prince (Broadway’s Beautiful – The Carole King Musical, and Shrek the Musical) at the Fire Island Dance Festival and at Broadway Dance Lab.

Connor is the recipient of the Prince Edward Award, which was established by the Province of Manitoba to commemorate the visit of His Royal Highness Prince Edward to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.  Connor received many other scholarships while attending the Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s Professional Division, including the Paddy Stone and Founders Scholarships.

Connor reconstructed Bob Fosse’s iconic original tap choreography for the number Sing, Sing, Sing in the Broadway Revival of Bob Fosse’s Dancin’, directed by Tony Award Winner Wayne Cilento (Choreographer of Broadway’s Wicked and The Who’s Tommy).   Connor rehearsed the adolescent featured dancers for Kennedy Center Honoree and National Medal for the Arts Recipient Twyla Tharp’s ballet The Princess and the Goblin during its Canadian Premiere at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.  Connor is a protégé of Francis J. Roach (Luigi’s Jazz Centre) and is one of the only people in the world reconstructing the choreography of Eugene Louis “Luigi” Faccuito, the innovator of the world’s first jazz dance technique.  Connor is on faculty at the world-renowned Circle in the Square Theatre School, where he is the founder of the Ballet Program and teaches the advanced dance students.
